The Handmade Toy Alliance (HTA) was formed in response to the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA) of 2008. The HTA is a trade organization representing small independent manufacturers and retailers of children's products. The HTA seeks:

1. To lend voice to toy stores, toy makers, and children's product manufacturers/retailers from across the country;
2. To assist in raising awareness of the issues that directly impact HTA members;
3. To provide HTA members access to their larger scale peers;
4. To support and promote HTA members.

The HTA lobbies for meaningful reform of the CPSIA to aid small businesses caught in a snarl of unintended consequences. These consequences place an undue burden on and affect a wide range of businesses from apparel, to toys, to children's accessories, to educational materials for children with disabilities. We need meaningful, common sense reform to preserve the heart and soul of small batch specialty toys and children's products.
